Why you need to add tenancy details to the portal

A Move In is essentially adding a record to the system to provide us with details of the tenant that is moving into the property, the date they are moving in and any applicable meter readings and/or serial numbers.

It is important to complete the Move In for a property as soon as you become aware of who is moving in and when they are moving in.

The data you enter for a Move In will be used to ensure bill responsibility is transferred into the new tenant’s name (and out of the landlord's name) from the date they move into the property.

If a Move In is not added to the system within 4 weeks of the Move Out date, you may receive chaser letters and /or bills from Ovo Energy, addressed to the landlord. If Ovo Energy are none the wiser about who is responsible for the bill as they don’t have the tenant information, the bills may be incorrectly assigned to the landlord (which of course, we want to avoid).

It is also important to note that if a Move In is not added to the system following a Move Out, the system will not allow you to perform another Move Out for that property. Move Outs and Move Ins must alternate for a property in order to achieve accurate billing and efficient use of the Helpthemove platform.
