An erroneous transfer or 'ET' can occur when an energy supply is switched to a new energy supplier without the consent of the bill payer. Usually an ET is the result of a genuine mistake and where they can, suppliers will always work to fix the problem with no discomfort to the customer.

You can help to prevent ETs by:

  1. Being sure of the accuracy of the data you enter on to the portal (paying particular attention to Move dates, as these can often change if you agree to the exiting or incoming tenant to extend, reduce or move their tenancy dates). To help you, our support team will email you advising of an upcoming scheduled move out that was future dated- just a friendly reminder to help avoid any ET related issues.

  2. Letting us know about any changes to the data you've entered as soon as you learn about them. You can reach us at support@helpthemove.co.uk or 0161 399 0247.

  3. Communicating clearly with your Landlords and Tenants about your use of the Helpthemove service what this means for them.
